The Park's 60th Anniversary Celebration

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Welshpool, NB, 2024-05-08 — The Roosevelt Campobello International Park Commission, Welshpool, NB, is thrilled to announce its upcoming 60th-anniversary celebration in July 2024. Roosevelt Campobello International Park (the Park) is a cherished destination for families, history buffs, and nature enthusiasts. It has been a source of countless memories and experiences for the community since its opening in 1964. Established in January 1964, the Roosevelt Campobello International Park Commission has created cherished moments and visitor experiences over the past six decades.

As the Park reaches this significant milestone, it reflects on its rich history and looks forward to an exciting future. To commemorate this special occasion, Roosevelt Campobello International Park has meticulously planned a series of events and activities throughout the year. These are designed to celebrate the past and engage and entertain long-time Park enthusiasts and new visitors, promising a year full of excitement and fun. The anniversary celebration will feature a variety of attractions, including:

  • A season-long celebration of the Park’s 60th Anniversary, with all programs highlighting the anniversary in some way (on- and off-site school programs, natural area programs, historic core tours and programs, social media campaign and engagement, and Visitor Center banner exhibition highlighting the Park’s six decades.

  • The celebration’s highlight will be the 10-day extravaganza from 22-31 July, featuring special events and programs. These include public events and programs, enlightening talks, invigorating walks, soul-stirring concerts, and insightful tours, all free of charge and open to the general public. You won’t want to miss this event!

  • The centrepiece of the celebration will be the weekend of 27-28 July, with official ceremonies, community activities, and the opening of a state-of-the-art trail. These will be interspersed with performances by First Nations and non-First Nations drummers, pipers, and other musicians and entertainers. As always, generous portions of Campobello Island hospitality and great food will be available.

    The Roosevelt Campobello International Park Commission warmly invites the local community, visitors, and Park enthusiasts worldwide to celebrate its 60th anniversary.
